MOUVEDRE - 2013
Ripe cherries and prune, cocoa and spice. Lovely fruity Languedoc red.
Inspired by his friend Eric Pfifferling, Alain Allier took up the reigns at a late age at Domaine Mouressipe to the west of Nimes in the Gard. Mouressipe is comprised of twelve hectares, four of which produce the domaine wines. There is a mixture of clay and limestone soils along with some blue marne, which he tends to organically. He uses minimal copper and sulphur preferring a mix of essential oil treatments. Stylistically his wines share the same characteristics of his friend at l’Anglore, favouring aromatic profile and drinkability over the big Southern reds the Gard is famous for.
